Exhibition- A Token Gesture

Exhibition – A Token Gesture

A Token Gesture is an exhibition and research project to introduce, explore and critique new public interactions and ownership of digital art via ‘non-fungible tokens’ – more commonly known as NFTs.  We have worked with two Scottish based generative artists Sasha Belitskaja and Cameron “Gingey” to create a system where anyone can generate a unique piece of digital art simply by presenting a colour to a fixed camera which then creates a unique NFT. A Token Gesture is an academic research project, led by researchers at the Institute for Design Informatics (https://www.designinformatics.org) , part of the UKRI DeCaDE centre (https://decade.ac.uk) .

A Token Gesture is running via at Inspace Gallery every night, from 7 March to 3 April (you can mint an NFT at anytime but the artwork will be viewable on the projectors from 4pm-4am each night)

A Token Gesture: ‘Ask us NFT-thing’

March 30th, 5pm-6pm, Zoom https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-token-gesture-ask-us-nft-thing-tickets-294737737507

In the final week of our exhibition, this online event will provide a forum for critical reflection and debate about the use, value and implications of NFTs.

Lead developer, Dr. Evan Morgan, and lead researcher Dr. Chris Elsden, along with others connected to the work, invite you to ‘Ask us NFT-thing’.

We invite anyone to join us via Zoom, but would especially welcome those who have taken part in the exhibition thus far to come together to share experiences, and consider the potential futures, good and bad, of these technologies.
