DECaDE on DLT for Public Good

DECaDE researchers presented and joined discussions on 7th March, at the House of Lords roundtable discussion on Distributed Ledger Technology for Public Good

The team highlighted research from the DECaDE centre on digital supply chain integrity, including on creative media. This work aligns closely with our multi-year research on media provenance, to help fight news and misinformation and on data provenance to ensure AI safety.

Professor Glenn Parry and Mike Brookbanks have been leading a broad programme of research into DLT (blockchain), supporting UK Government innovations in digital, particularly the move towards a digital border. Professor Glenn Parry commented;

Our aim is to facilitate the development and implementation of digital cross-border trade systems and have a positive impact for the UK. This was a great opportunity to contribute insights directly to Government, particularly from our digital supply chain research programme”

The discussions inform Lord Holmes work updating his 2018 report “Distributed Ledger Technologies for Public Good: leadership, collaboration and innovation”.

The Centre for the Decentralised Digital Economy (DECaDE) is a five-year EPSRC funded Next Stage Digital Economy Centre, part of the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing exploring how data-centric technologies, such as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and artificial Intelligence (AI) could transform our future digital economy through decentralised platforms.
